Canadian POW Camp Number 202 5 & 10 Cents

Canada had 26 camps housing 35,000 prisoners of war beginning in 1940.  The largest camps were Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.  Many of the camps used only numbers to designate them while others used the name of the town they were located in.  Camps were located in Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Alberta.  Canadian POW issues are very rare and difficult to find.  The Number 202 scrip was issued in a booklet with pages of coupons of the same denomination.  The clerk at the canteen would tear off strips in the amount needed for the purchase.
