Pamona & SCU 1984 (California) POW Camp 1 Cent

Pamona

Pamona Ordnance Depot was located at the LA County Fairgrounds.  It was first used as a processing center for ethnic Japanese from May 7, 1942 until August 24, 1942.  Later in March 1945 a POW camp was opened that held about 1150 POWs.  The camp closed February 1946. Two chits from the camp were just recently discovered in an Italian POWs scrapbook.  Both are one cent denominations with one identifing the chit as from Pamona and the other SCU1984 DSCS which is also assumed to be from the Pamona camp
